This is the new show The Block Open House. This show is all about sharing all the block expertise and getting out on the road to meet and help people in their homes. Darren Palmer turns design doctor, helping a couple make a narrow small room into a fantastic guest room/study. By repainting, and installing a foldaway bed, the room can be used as a bedroom and a study. Shelley and the judges take over Scotty’s HQ to catch up on the week that was on The Block. Twins Alyssa and Lysandra help a family spruce up a house for sale, with a makeover that takes just one day. Ian and Rosetta have an investment property that they want to sell but they’re just not getting the offers that they need, and the property passed in with no bids on auction day. Alisa and Lysandra arrive to help them fix up the kitchen and living room. They’ve got some great ideas to brighten things up. They remove the carpet and slate tiles, and a new timber floating floor is installed. They choose a bright artwork for the walls and repaint and old timber side board bright blue. They also install a new timber bench top in the kitchen and hang cool new pendant lights above the bench. Scotty meets Tammy, who’s husband Brendan could possibly be the world’s biggest “knuckle head”. Scotty surprises Brendan after having a good look around the house at Brendan’s handy work. Scotty helps Brendan paint some window frames that have been in bad shape for 5 years! The real estate agent is very impressed with the twins’ efforts at real estate styling. The space is definitely more appealing and the house is valued by an independent valuer. He values it at approximately $810,00 - $815,000. In terms of rent, the property would now fetch up to $150 a week more than before the makeover. The house sells four weeks later for $810,000.
